Today we’re going to talk about a totally normal and not at all over-the-top customized rifle, the Redleg Co. rifle chambered in .223 Remington Ackley Improved.
Now, this rifle may have a mouthful of a name, but trust me when I say that it’s worth every letter. We’re talking about a Remington 700 action that’s been accurized and blueprint-ified (yes, that’s a word), just in case those pesky 1/8th MOA shots weren’t quite good enough for you.
But that’s not even the best part! This bad boy comes equipped with a precision ground recoil lug that’s pinned to the receiver, just so you don't have to worry about the whole thing flying off and hitting you in the face. And if you’re the type of person who’s always worrying about scope bases coming loose (aren't we all?), fear not! The Redleg Co. rifle also comes with a one-piece scope base that’s pinned to the receiver as well.
The bolt lugs are lapped, because every second counts, and they have 100 percent lug contact with the receiver. If that's not enough to make sure you’re getting the best possible accuracy, we don’t know what is. Oh wait, we do. A Timney Hunter 3lb trigger pull.
Let's talk about style and comfort, shall we? This rifle is pillared and bedded in a Boyd laminate stock, because no self-respecting gun aficionado would be caught dead without a good laminate stock. And if you like to switch it up, the adjustable cheek piece is there for you.
And finally, to finish off this beautiful masterpiece, the rifle is coated with a tan cerakote finish. Because what’s the point in getting a customized rifle if it isn’t stylish?
So, if you’re looking for a rifle to take down that pesky 1/4 MOA at 400 yards, or if you just want to show off to your friends at the range, the Redleg Co. rifle may just be the one for you. But be warned, every time you show it off, someone is going to ask you what the heck "Ackley Improved" means. Good luck with that one.
